| I picked up a few more plants to stock my 10gal with today and they have some algae growing on them. What can I do to get rid of it before I put them in the aquarium? |

Manually remove them, thats what I always do.you can use some hypo salinity dip for like 5-10 minutes and then remove the algae with either hand, cotton etc
Personally I just remove algae in a bucket of water, let it stay there for like an hour or two. Then rinse it with running tap water and then just plant it. |

| I've tried kinda scrubbing the leaves between my fingers in some water, but that just doesn't quite get it off. I've heard of some people doing a quick dip in either diluted peroxide or diluted bleach. Has anyone else done this? |

If the situation is not severe, I usually remove the affected leaves by cutting them off.
If the situation is severe, I just throw the plants. It's not worth it as it will invite more trouble later. I don't believe that you can remove algae 100% |

Bleach @ 1 part bleach to 20 parts water is OK for tough leaved plants, not for soft, or thin leaves.
Hydrogen peroxide does not kill all the various species of algae, but can be used, but I do not know the dilution.
Excel is another algae killer, but I am not sure of the strongest dose that is safe for the plants. |

| With peroxide, I have used it in my tank at 3 tablespoons per 10 gallons. For a dip, I would try 1 tbsp per 1.25 cups of water and limit the dip time to 2-3 minutes. |

I mix 50/50 water and Excel in a spray bottle. Spray the plants, let sit for a minute and then put in the tank.
Even works on BBA. |
