Hi! I was just recently given this Pleco as a gift, but my friend couldn't tell me anything about it. It's very cute!

It's about 3" long and not at all shy, with white tips on it's dorsal fin and the top and bottom of it's tail. It won't touch algae pellets, but seems quite happy scouring the rocks, etc. for food. Any ideas on how big it gets, or what kind it is? Cheers!

I went to the pet store where my friend bought it, and found out it's apparently called a Bushy Pleco - or maybe Bushi Pleco. I'm in Japan, and I've noticed they tend to use their own common names for Plecos. I've looked on the internet, but so far with no luck. Please help if you can!

One funny thing about this little guy, is that my Betta seems to find very relaxing to come and just sit on top of him! There's no way my Clown Pleco would put up with that, but this one just quietly waits for my Betta to move - which he does after a minute or two. Very peaceful!

Defiantly a bushy nosed pleco or Medusa pleco it only gets 3/4 inches long and is a great algae eater. I own three, yours is a female, if it was a male it would have "whiskers" on the upper part of its lip.

Cheers for the info! By the way, you're right -- she works hard keeping the algae under control.

Well, in case anyone is interested, she is still doing very well! She is a bushy mouthed pleco (or bushy nosed pleco) and she has been fantastic. She is only about 10cm long (4") and is very peaceful.
